FAQs
Air
Blower:
An air blower blows air into the spa
to agitate the water either through a dedicated air line or
individual air injectors located inside the hot tub. Some
people like this feature which injects cool air into the hot
water and agitates. The draw back of an air blower is when
on the air will cool the water of your hot tub. To each his
own!
Circulation
Pump:
A circulation pump is usually a centrifugal
pump moving the water through the filter
and heater. It maybe
a smaller fractional horse power pump, a larger dedicated
one speed pump, or a two-speed
pump.
Components:
Components are the electrical parts of the
spa. Examples are contactors, relays, circuit boards, switches
and wiring to name a few. The high humidity and heat which
we enjoy about out hot tubs is also the cause of component
failure. It's not your fault. It is just the way it is and
Spa Parts Store can help you with this.
Filter:
A Filter can be a cloth material, sand, Diatatious
earth, or some media that catches dirt and debris from the
hot tub water. It should be cleaned on a regular basis. With
a pleated filter cartridge we recommend replacing the unit
every 2-3 years depending on use and ware.
Hot
Tub:
Hot Tub has become known as a Spa or Jacuzzi
(which was one of the pioneers in the hot tub industry and
is a well known brand name). We may interchange the terms
but it all started as a HOT TUB!
Pump:
A pump can be a small low flow centrifugal
pump to simple heat and filter the water up to a large high
amp high flow pump for hydro therapy and multiple hydrotherapy
jet configurations.
Two-speed-pump:
A two-speed pump is used as a double duty
pump. The low speed requires less electricity at a slower
water flow (than the
one high speed pump) which is optimal for heating and filtering.
The high speed is use for the hydrotherapy jets provided on
the modern Hot Tubs and Spas.
Suction
line:
A suction line is made up of a fitting installed
usually in the deepest area of the hot tub connected to a
pipe that connects to the pump.
Complete
spa pack:
A complete spa pack consists of a controller
along with the pump or pumps needed for your hot tub to function.
This may also include an air
blower if you hot tub has this option.
Controller:
The controller consists of the electrical
system that activates the features of your hot tub. These
features include the adjusting the heat of the water, the
pressure of the hydrotherapy jets, the pump , the filtration
cycle, the lights, and the air
blower (if installed) to name just a few features offered
on the modern hot tub. The controller can be considered the
brain of you hot tub. The controller is a component of the
complete spa pack.
With the help of Spa Parts Store you can now do a brain transplant!
Heater:
A Heater is usually an electric element installed
within the spa equipment and is easy to replace for a do-it-your-selfer.
Always turn off the electrical power
to the unit before doing any service. Heaters can also
be solar or gas fired (as found on a swimming pool) which
require a trained technician to service.
Parts:
Components are also known as parts.
Return
Line:
A return line is the pipe exiting from a pump
and returning to the hot tub. This line may go through a filter,
ozonator, chlorinator, heater and then returning to the hot
tub.
Water
Flow:
Water flow is also termed as GPM (gallons
per minute) which will determine how many hydrotherapy jets
will be used on a spa. It is also used to determine how many
times the water in you hot tub will be circulated through
the filter and heater.
